Racial justice is impossible without institutional support

Title

Racial justice is impossible without institutional support

Subject

Authors urge the administration to be more forthright and proactive about enacting the anti-racist programming and initiatives that were promised over the summer (plan for the $500,000 donation, DEI action plan, etc. ). Authors state that not only is Middlebury lacking "a concrete framework for addressing the racism that is embedded in the fabric of our institution", but that the administration does not have "adequate clarity", "urgency" and is generally "unprepared".

Coverage

"It has been made painstakingly clear that Middlebury must come to reckon with our complicity in the occurrence of overt hate speech — but also grapple with how institutional recognition of certain events leads BIPOC students to question their place on this campus."
