Title

College Revises Events Policies, Citing Threats on Campus and Nationwide

Subject

In response to threats made against students at Middlebury and the college itself, Middlebury enacted a new policy in which guest speakers and planned events must undergo screening and estimation of public safety risk. Many who were targeted by right-wing media outlets following the Charles Murray event were satisfied with the new policies and procedures, but other members, like those in the AEI (the organization that sponsored Murray) believed that such procedures punished the guests because of an anticipated community response.
