King marchers cry for "Equality and Peace"
Dublin Core
Title
King marchers cry for "Equality and Peace"
Subject
In celebration of MLK day, college students joined with high school students from Middlebury Union High School and marched to the town green to protest the imminent Gulf Crisis. There were banners and protesters who had anti-war slogans, such as "NO WAR" and "SANITY", which were very similar to the type of protest signs that were present during the Civil Rights Movement (regarding the Vietnam War). Speakers identified how African-Americans make up a disproportionate amount of the armed forces, but are still struggling for equality at home.
