Title

Midd activists embark on civil rights tour

Subject

Professor Jim Ralph and American Studies Professor Will Nash led a group of student activists on a tour of civil rights monuments in Georgia and Alabama. The purpose of the trip was to give students a chance to hear and see first-hand accounts of the civil rights movement. The students who went on the trip were united by a commitment to activism. Civil rights movement participant, Bernard LaFayette ("one of the earliest participants in the movement against segregation in Nashville in 1960, a freedom rider, and grassroots activist and one of the top assistants to Dr. Martin Luther King") accompanied the students as well and provided them with first-hand accounts of his experiences.
