SGA approves racial harassment policy

Title
SGA approves racial harassment policy
Subject
SGA unanimously passed the racial harassment policy presented by BSU with minimal changes from the original proposal. The original proposal called for a council made up of 2 BSU members, 1 other "minority" student, 1 "minority" dean, 1 psychologist, 1 SGA member, and the chairman of the Judicial Council. The changes entailed that the council is comprised of "a student representative from each minority instead of the 2 BSU members and the one other minority member and to delete the inclusion of the Judicial Council chairman"."The committee is not to have a judicial role, but instead a "counseling" one, but if necessary it may refer the offender to the Judicial Council. An offender may also be referred to the committee by the Judicial Council in the hopes of "educating and increasing the awareness of this person."
