Title

Twilight Update Examines Minority Student Life

Subject

The Twilight Committee makes suggestions to the admissions office in order to "step up minority student recruiting and make the campus more attractive to minority students." Fred Neuberger, the Director of Admissions, explained how at this time recruitment efforts of "minority" students were more focused on prospective black students rather than "Hispanic or other minority groups." The report from the committee also called for a separate budget for minority students, specific minority students scholarships, and an overall increase in the College's financial aid. In a survey done by the committee of current minority students, it was found that "typical responses were that the BSU is misunderstood and ignored, that white students avoid its cultural and social events and do not even think that the College should support its activity, there was also the feeling that the administration found BSU's presence an annoyance."
