Title

Active recruitment of minorities practices

Subject

22 "minority" high school students visited Middlebury where they had discussions with faculty members, attended classes and workshops, and attended a BSU-sponsored party. The high schoolers were primarily from DC, Philly, NJ, NYC, and Long Island. The College had been doing annual recruitment of "minority" students for 8-9 years but this was the first year that the College arranged/ financed the transportation for the students. According to the students, this was very impactful, because the financial burden of visiting Vermont would have dissuaded them from considering Middlebury as a higher education option.
