Title
Black Students for Mutual Understanding
Subject
Student argues that BSMU is prejudiced because of its "closed meetings, closed parties, etc.". Additionally, complains that somehow the annual Black Week was controversial because it was an "excuse" for the black students to be superior to the white students, as well as complained that Black Week didn't "do anything" specifically to help white students attain an "understanding" of the black race. Overall this is a very "reverse racism" article, where the author points out so-called "privileges" that black students enjoy at the "expense" of white students.

"It is an organization which holds closed meetings, closed parties, etc., so how could it be an organization formed for the advancement of closer relations between blacks and non-blacks?"
"Or is the importance behind Black Week to bring up all the prospective black students and show them what big men and women they can be on campus? Give them a lesson in how to act superior to all the white students on campus. Get them high and get them high and get them high..."
"What white student is going to go up to an unknown black person, especially one of BSMU? People are scared, and they have the right to be. They have seen the antagonisms that reeks of black superiority on this campus"
"There was a remark made during this year's Black Week concerning 'white superiority', here at Middlebury. IF there is any white superiority it has been caused by the sense of an overwhelming black superiority. It is the result of the continuous snobbery and general rudeness of blacks toward whites at Middlebury"
"Why should the black students have a center where they can go and shut out the so-called white world?"
