"Dean of the College Dennis O'Brien revealed at the meeting that 22 black students have been accepted as members of the class of 1973 and that seven more have been placed on the 'waiting list.' Of these 22, three received with their acceptances a letter which recognized the need for financial aid, but explained that the College could not at present offer it to them because of budgetary limits and a large number of other financial aid applicants."
