Title

Four National Sororities To Disband This Spring

Subject

Middlebury's four (Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Beta Phi, and Sigma Kappa) national sororities make the decision to completely disband within the next six months. The main reason for this decision was the Student Senate ruling and time limit on anti-discriminatory rushing practices for Middlebury sororities, with which the sororities were unable to comply.

Coverage

"Judy Stine, President of Delta Delta Delta, did not feel that it was necessary to disband the sororities-- she felt that rush procedure could have been altered within the Senate's two-year deadline-- but 'Tri-Delta' was more or less 'forced' to disband when the other three nationals did. 'The burden', she said 'was too much to carry alone.'"
