Subject

The article identifies the improbability of the Midd ATO chapter from withdrawing from the national chapter, because of their desire to "fight the discrimination from within." The author cites how Midd ATO officers have been leading an effort to abolish the "white Christian" clause from the fraternity constitution by replacing it with "socially acceptable". This Movement was apparently defeated at the national ACO congress in 1962, but they are hopeful that they will have more luck in 1964. At this point in time ATO is the only MIdd fraternity that still has the "white Christian" clause as part of its national constitution. The author insists that the Interfraternity Council should give ATO an ultimatum: eliminate the "white Christian" clause by September of 1965 to demand that the Middlebury chapter withdraws from the national chapter.
