This letter is calling for significant administrative change/action in order to support students of color. Authors call for aggressive recruitment and retainment tactics for faculty/students of color, as well as calls for "curricular changes that reflect a dedication to multicultural education". The author also points out how many cultural organizations that carry a majority of the burden of retaining and supporting students of color are student-run. They receive no compensation and limited administrative support for the massive job that they do in terms of supporting/protecting students of color. </text>

Rally was sponsored by AAA, Alianza, and the Middlebury Asian Student Organization. Specifically, the protesters were against the administration's consideration of Charles M. There was also the concern about the lacking racial diversity amongst the faculty itself. Following the protest, President McCardell addressed the group and met with some students following the rally. This all resulted in Burdick NOT being hired for the position described above. </text>
